National AGM
Our annual get-together got under way with a Fitness Moves warm up lead by Frances Dickens, followed by a Creative Moves session with Lisa Terry. Each session was well attended and warmly appreciated both by those taking part and those preferring to sit on the side and watch.
After lunch came the business of the day and our 52nd National AGM. Darran Bennett, Chief Executive of the Exercise Movement and Dance Partnership outlined the Annual Report for 2009, Working Together, which was provided in hard copy to those assembled, along with a report written by John Hunter summarising what had been achieved since the forming of the partnership in May 2006.

Full details of the meeting including reports, financial summary and elected officers, can be found in the Minutes, available to members upon request
Volunteer of the Year Award
A particularly pleasurable part of the AGM is the announcement of the winners of the
Volunteer of the Year Award. This is the occasion when we celebrate the contribution made by just some of our members towards making the KFA unique in its blend of keeping fit and social activities.
This year, the winners are:
Committee Member – Doris Bridger, South East (Surrey)
Teacher – Diana Bigley , East Midlands (Northants)
Member – Pamela Westmore, Southern Counties

National Competitions
The biennial Keep Fit Association’s National Championships has now become an established feature of the KFA programme. The number of competitors and the standard of performance increases every time and the show put on at the Winter Gardens in February 2009 was equal to any presented at this prestigious venue.
Keep Fit members from across the British Isles met for two days to compete for places in solo and team categories. Each performance displayed an impressive level of skills and abilities in a wide range of styles, which combined to present the judges with a difficult and unenviable task.
The winners in each category with photographs taken of their performances are shown on the attached pages. (photographs by kind permission of Chris Christodoulou). Follow this link to see the winners and photos of February 2009.
All those who have travelled to Blackpool in the past, either as participants, supporters or spectators agree that the Championships make a fabulous week-end. The weather is always bracing, the evenings hilarious and the performances stimulating. If you haven’t entered the competition before, or been a spectator, now’s the time to think about getting a team or item together for 2011.
The venue for the 2011 Competitions will be the Southport Convention Centre. Occupying a central position on the Promenade at Southport it offers an impressive modern auditorium with full technical facilities including Dolby surround sound and an infra red system for the hard of hearing. Southport itself has everything:- a huge selection of hotels, restaurants, beaches, shops and theatres and Sefton Council has offered preferential rates for accommodation to the KFA..
So put the date in your diary now - February 19th & 20th 2011. More details will follow nearer the time. Contact is Linda Moore (KFA Events Director).
